Electrophoresis of Spores

چکیده
Proteus vulgart8 yields N-acetylchondrosin. On the bases of these findings, together with analytical results, the product is considered to be N-acetylchondrosin sulphate. 3. When chondroitinase action is notallowed to proceed to completion a series of oligosaccharides is obtained, the principal member being identical with the single product obtained by exhaustive degradation. This series of oligosaccharides is identical with that arising from the prolonged degradation (48 hr.) of chondroitin sulphate with testicular hyaluronidase. 4. Evidence suggests that this oligosaccharide series consists of di-, tetra-, hexaand octa-saccharide homologues, the smallest member being N-acetylchondrosin sulphate.

Bacteria associated with spores of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi Glomus geosporum and Glomus constrictum.
Spores of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) Glomus geosporum and Glomus constrictum were harvested from single-spore-derived pot cultures with either Plantago lanceolata or Hieracium pilosella as host plants. PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis analysis revealed that the bacterial communities associated with the spores depended more on AMF than host plant identity. The composition ...
متن کاملCharacterization of spores of Bacillus subtilis that lack most coat layers.
Spores of Bacillus subtilis have a thick outer layer of relatively insoluble protein called the coat, which protects spores against a number of treatments and may also play roles in spore germination. However, elucidation of precise roles of the coat in spore properties has been hampered by the inability to prepare spores lacking all or most coat material. In this work, we show that spores of a...
متن کاملProteomic analysis of the spore coats of Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus anthracis.
The outermost proteinaceous layer of bacterial spores, called the coat, is critical for spore survival, germination, and, for pathogenic spores, disease. To identify novel spore coat proteins, we have carried out a preliminary proteomic analysis of Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus anthracis spores, using a combination of standard sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis separatio...
متن کاملIn vitro translation of polyadenylate-containing RNAs from dormant and germinating spores of the fungus Botryodiplodia theobromae.
Polyadenylated RNA isolated by oligodeoxythymidylate-cellulose chromatography from spores of the fungus Botryodiplodia theobromae was translated in a cell-free protein-synthesizing system derived from wheat embryo. Reaction conditions which would yield efficient and accurate in vitro translation of the spore RNA were established. Dual isotopically labeled mixtures of in vitro translation produc...
متن کاملArtificial and solar UV radiation induces strand breaks and cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers in Bacillus subtilis spore DNA.
The loss of stratospheric ozone and the accompanying increase in solar UV flux have led to concerns regarding decreases in global microbial productivity. Central to understanding this process is determining the types and amounts of DNA damage in microbes caused by solar UV irradiation. While UV irradiation of dormant Bacillus subtilis endospores results mainly in formation of the "spore photopr...
متن کاملRibosomal protein synthesis during spore germination and vegetative growth in Dictyostelium discoideum.
We have investigated the regulation of the synthesis of each ribosomal protein during spore germination and in vegetatively growing cells of Dictyostelium discoideum. Germinating spores and exponentially growing amoebae were labeled with [35S]methionine and the individual ribosomal proteins were resolved by electrophoresis on two-dimensional polyacrylamide gels. Functional mRNA levels for ribos...
